Commissioning of Beam Induced Fluorescence Monitor at Unilac
نویسندگان
چکیده
Overview Due to the high-current operation at UNILAC nonintercepting beam diagnostics is mandatory. In October 2008 a Beam Induced Fluorescent (BIF) monitor for transverse profile determination was set up in the UNILAC section US1. It serves as a prototype for the installation at 7 locations at UNILAC and the transfer channel to SIS. The comissioning and proof of functionality of the new installation was done in December 2008.

BIF Profile Monitor for the UNILAC - Tests and DAQ Upgrade
The non-intercepting Beam Induced Fluorescence (BIF) monitor for transverse beam profile measurements was successfully tested for different ion species and energies from 5 to 750 MeV/u at the GSI accelerators [1]. Starting from its first implementation [2] we systematically investigated technical aspects such as the proper choice of optics and gain factors, as well as physical aspects like the ...

Beam Induced Fluorescence Monitor Due to the high beam power expected for FAIR, novel methods for non-intersecting beam diagnostics for the High Energy Beam Transport Lines must be considered. We investigate the detection of fluorescence photons from the excited states of the residual gas N2 with a Beam Induced Fluorescence (BIF) Monitor [1]. This method was successfully applied for high curren...

We have recently designed and installed the first quadrant beam position monitor in the W01B-MX2 beamline. The whole monitor, including its electronics, was installed in-vacuum to reduce errors from current leakage and noise coupling from the outside of the vacuum chamber. Aspects of the mechanical and electronic design of this fluorescence-based beam position monitor, as well as the commission...
متن کاملUNILAC Status and Developments
During the beam time in 2003 a carbon beam from the ECR ion source was mainly accelerated via the high charge state injector (HLI) in the UNILAC for the SIS-injection like in the years before [1]. Several UNILAC experiments used the beam with high duty factor additionally. Additionally, the ECR source was in operation for the production of various isotopes (2H, He, Ne, Mg, Ar, Ca, Cr, Zn, Xe). ...
متن کاملCommissioning and Operational Experience of the HLI-RFQ
The high charge state injector (HLI) at the UNILAC provides beams mainly for the super heavy element research (SHIP, TASCA). It comprises an ECR ion source, a radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ), an IH structure and two bunchers [1]. High average beam intensities of rare isotopes are the domain of the HLI. An upgrade program, aimed at increased beam intensity, quality and duty cycle, was started i...
